This reCaptcha which you posted can't prevent bots.
Just because this: Because of that "only check", that check can be done by script which check box and than wait a little. So with that reCaptcha you won't prevent anything. Another story is to implement reCaptcha with numbers and letters, but than it would be annoying to type every time text when you want to login.

Completely, utterly opposed. The game can kick someone just before a hit, and this could cause them to not log back in before the hit.

Horcon says something interesting, it can be a problem for real users if they are kicked out.

On the other hand what ErikFyr says is that the game would need any test or tool "antiBot" to prevent illegal scripts.

there is a lot of players in ogame who do not notice this kind of things and they won't click on checkbox...

every time we make fusion we found people who were loging actively (maybe not everyday but for sure once or twice per week), and the day when merge starts they send ticket to ask why they got vmode until 2038... and if you check their accounts, you can see that they did not select destiny universe, because they just closed the windows which appears every time you log in the game...

so... maybe most of those people won't check the box and they will be detected as 'bot' and got banned for no reason.

and for sure, bot developer will always catch a backdoor to develop functions for the bot to avoid this limitation.

if player won't check, player will not be banned, they could just not log in

bots will check and trigger the captcha very easily and so the captcha will bother 99.99% of normal and fair play users.

Anyway a captcha at login is not planned from the ogame team

If a captcha comes, it has to be activated by Game Operator only on account with bot suspicion.
Then it won't bother other players. (and will be harder for bot developer to find a bloack door on the capcha as it's "hard" to meet)

I think that in the case vulca explaiend, it would be used by game admins and at least sgo to avoid confusing situations

there was something very effective against bots some years back
it was so effective that the gf decided to never do it again because it probally cost them too much €

im not sure which year it was 2007 or 08 there was a huge banwave in every universe and the most active universes at the time had up to 150 bans i think.
ogamewide there were severaly thousand banned accounts because of botusing

the bots didnt click through accounts like humans(unless it was a makro script but i think thats way too much work) but rather used links like ogame.com/overview and ogame.com/fleet
what the gf did was that they replaced the clickable link of ogame.com/fleet with a new one like ogame.com/fleetnew
so every account that still used ogame.com/fleet was a botuser

mb it isnt a matter of money why the gf doesnt do that again.
i dont know if the bots still work in that exploitable way(even tho im sure they do) or mb it has other reasons why they wont do it again

You must have evidence then if you want to activate it, only suspicion can be lead to false positives.

Vulca, a player suspected to bot can anywhere logs itself to the account It means that the player can fullfill the " test " and launch its script later.

I don't think captcha is a good idea, something more complex can be set for the bots

You must consider that nothing can stop bots, you can only delay them or try to detect them. Bots will always tries to find a way to get around the security.

Its completely wrong.

Some complex systems can completely avoid scripting or bot using on critical pages.

For instance, routing the dom thanks to one-use-only dom structures.

Question is not to know if its possible to stop bots, but if the work to do it is not to heavy regarding the damage of bot using.

I don't think it is to heavy, but more not a priority because GO's have or learning the knowledge to intercept bot using and eventually in time they can intercept players that use bots.
