In Chinese we used to mark the number by 4 digits.


Take 1M for example,
it is used to represent as 1,000,000, however in our community we represent it as 100,0000,
which will be written as '一百萬'.

'十' means a ten (a digit of zero in a number)
'百' means a hundred (2 digits of zeros in a number)
'千' means a thousand (3 digits of zeros in a number)
'萬' means a 10K (4 digits of zeros in a number)
'億' means a 100M (8 digits of zeros in a number)

each number will be read from the word that contains the most zeros.
therefore,
1 Billion = 1,000,000,000 = 10,0000,0000 = 10億 = 十億
1 Million = 1,000,000 = 100,0000 = 100萬 = 1百萬 = 百萬 ( '1' can be ignored)

However, I consider using '億' and '萬' only and leaving other digits still number as the most readable format.
That is, take 23,100,000 for example, I will mark it as '2310萬'.
and for 2,123,456,000 will become '21億' (estimated representation)

A capital is used only when the original word is written with a capital. Like at the beginning of a sentence.

My first listed contained two errors for RU (the M is an UTF-8 char and no normal M) and for TR (I took this over from the original post, but it is not correct).
