This is kinda hit, I confess, to which I have been looking forward all through my ogame career as a fleeter. I had tried several occasions in the past but never could actually achieve it.
Well, I have been hunting Starman800 for a couple of months. I had formerly hit a minor fleet down in g1. Then it seems he has moved his fleet to a distant colony at g8. But the foible is that there was no moon there! I have probed it last week and what I found was a large fleet sitting on a moonless colony with very little deut stock. I made a quick plan to relocate to a nearby location but had to cancel relocation two times due to some unplanned obstacles. You know there's a cool down period before you can retry when you cancel reloc and had to wait another day for the jump gate to start working again... But all those days long the fleet was sitting there whenever I checked. Finally I could manage to complete reloc yesterday and tonight had to be the night. I have waited for his red light fade, launched the recyclers and timed the attacking fleet. This consumed almost complete deut at that location. Total flight was about 40 mins. But when it was around 30 mins. I realized that red light at the target colony. I checked with phalanx and saw that fleet was sent to the DF with 10% speed. And I found his message saying he was online. Too much deut was wasted! I didn't want to recall and tried slowing down the attack in even intervals. But he recalled his fleet from DF. I continued to fly thinking that he cannot run his fleet to another colony (nearest being at g6). So I continued to slow down the flight. Then around 15 mins mark, he launched to the DF again. This time it was faster. I calculated his flight time to the DF and found that his point of no-return was around 10 mins or so. So I waited with minor slow*downs and when he passed the point, I have slowed down the fleet for the last time just 2 secs after him. Voila! Here's the result. I had to sell my plasma turrets to the scrap merchant to be able fill fuel to the recyclers to send again. Since the first launch had to be recalled due to excessive slowing-down...
Years ago, I had lost a fleet to some experienced player in another universe similarly in my noob days. And I was waiting for my day to come. I dedicate this hit to all the people I happened to meet in this fantastic game: Both friends and rivals...
