I've any problem with your suggestion... in fact, I like it.
I'm asking to you to add more "other information", like, for instance, own rank (puting, maybe, just the rank icon, or something like that) on the same part that you're proposing

gentlemen ... after all, everyone has what they want: information or ship it's not his problem, I think if programmers desire to change things it will do to that ... and the info history, may be useful to give more details on the player example:
# The date of account opening or rather his birth
# Some more detail as the rank or the types of player: add small boxes ...; ect

The information is stored in the system so it's easy to implement (you can already ask a GO to tell you for instance). But I really don't see the benefit to deserve the time of a developer coding...
