As posted at OGame.Br, and addapted.
With the current accessibility to the short messages for users from Brazil, and I guess from all over the world, what would make it applicable universaly, the management of the game through SMS would add not just some dynamic, but also some new difficulties for the players.
Here's the idea: to install a server for receiving SMS for each country, and so a player could send a message in order to verify the account status. The idea has two sides:
1. The player
This one would be able to:
- Verify account status
- Verify messages
- Send messages
As a suggestion, I guess it would be nice to give an advantage for almirant users, give 'em the possibility to:
- manage fleets (in this case, would be quite difficult to spy&attack, but would be something like just choose a location, and send the fleet, with a mission... this is for each player's strategy though)
- upgrade/downgrade buildings in the choosen planet
2. The enemy
There would be a new difficult level for this one. The player that uses the SMS to manage his account has the possibility to make a fleet save in the last second, and so his enemy has to go up with this risk. So, players would need to get to a new level of strategy, as they would need to treat with the possibility of the defensor check his status, and look for a computer whatever he would be, or even that he could be an almirant. Also, the defensor would need to treat with the delay time between the action to send the message, and the time that the server receives the message. This would be affected also by the users mobile services operator. If the users tries to defend his planet, e.g., and he send the message with 1 second remaining for the attack... the message can get an error, and not be delivered, or get to the server 2 seconds after. So, wouldn't be a great idea to transfer the fleet through the portal in the last second, e.g.
This upgrades also the level of target analysis... there wouldn't be enough to know which hours of the day the target is online. In order to put a limit in this advantage, if the users sends a message to check out his account status, his main planet activity would get the *.
With the idea applied, would be something like:
Send a message to the number xxxx with the command yyyy for zzzz of the account.
Where yyyy would be for zzzz
- status -> Verify status -> The server would return a message with the resources and missions infos (time of the event, kind of event, etc.).
- Msg -> Verify Messages -> The server would return the list os unread messages, with an ID number for each one.
- Read ID -> Read the message with the specified ID -> The server return the message.
- Send nick -> Send a message to the nick player -> The text of the message follows the command.
- Flt ships command coord -> Send the ships with the command to the coord -> In this case, already only for almirant users, the user would be able to manage his fleet. The command possibilities would be:
--> chk for cheking the number os fleets. Each kind of ship would get an ID number, so the user could select;
--> all for selecting all the ships (in case of fleet save, e.g.);
--> trp for transport missions;
--> trs for transfer missions;
--> atk for attack missions;
--> spy for spy missions;
--> rec for recycle missions;
--> col for colonization missions;
--> hol to hold position;
--> atka to join an attack formation, then the user would need to specify the formation name;
For trp and trs missions, there would be the possibility to use an all command in the end, to make it get to the mission with all the resources in that planet
- Slc Colony -> To select the specified colony -> The user would need to write the colony name.
- Upg Building -> To upgrade the specified Building -> And as already an advantage for the almirants, the user would be able to put building in the queue line.
- Dng Building -> To downgrade the specified Building ->
And as already an advantage for the almirants, the user would be able to put building in the queue line.
Short commands, so it wouldn't need more than one message.
For using this service, wouldn't be needed for the player to accomplish any requisits (for basic use), but he would need the almirant activated for using the full service. Taxes would, certainly, be applicable. From the mobile services operator, and also from GameForge, I guess.
