Hydrogen (and deuterium) have a metallic phase at very high pressures, which presumably will be metastable at normal pressure (such as diamonds). The theoretical prediction also tell us that the volume of hydrogen's metal will be 20% normal sustance. What is not known is whether it will be a stable material (such as diamonds ...) or unstable and dangerous (such as nitroglycerin, I lain for this option.)
Compaction Technology
This technology, increments your knowledge of the high pressure processes that let the dangerous compaction of the hydrogen in his metal phase. With that, it reduces the occupeted volume for the deuterium to spend a fleet. More investigation’s level, more will be the segurity from the compaction teams of the ships and more the number of deuterium compacted that can carry without danger of detonation.
Costs:
20.000 metal and 20.000 deuterium
Formalities:
Laser technology 14
Level 14 of laser, for give life to this technology. There are only 1.600.000 of metal and 800.000 of crystal for pay the cost.
Whatever, remember that is a “Power Up” that has that cost a little get it because is a advance technology. However, I have calculated that with 100.000 point can get it.
Details:
The volume in fleet from deuterium emplieted such as fuel has lowed following a law of kind:
VOLUMEN%=100/(1+(1/2)*Compactation level’s Technology)^(3/4)
Amended for a higher framerate technology and pass to "converge" the value to what it tells us consensual matter physics
Level %Volume Cost (Metal and Deuterium)
1 73,77879465 20000
2 59,46035575 40000
3 50,29733719 80000
4 43,86913377 160000
5 39,07949714 320000
6 35,35533906 640000
7 32,36611811 1280000 (player 200k points)
8 29,90697562 2560000

10 26,084743 10240000
11 24,56489898 20480000 (Reasonable limits)
12 23,23680802 40960000
...
As you can see, this is a reasonable progression that benefits everyone (at 1 and reduce the amount of fuel by 18% to reach 50% research effort is needed to level 3, then the resulting efficiency drops sharply significantly more expensive more compact)
Examples:
Practical Example 1:
This is a technology that would allow you take more deuterium than the ship can carry, for example, when you send an espionage probe 6 galaxies away, leaving you cost about 6 in deuterium, with this technology, this compact may and send the probe, spending 6 of deuterium, but occupying the space of 4.8 units ... or less, depending on your level.
Practical Example 2:
Metallic Hydrogen Uncompressed Post my bombers to another galaxy, it costs me to say the least 100K of deuterium, but the capacity of my ships is 50K, then I am forced to reduce speed by half.
With Metallic Hydrogen Compactor: I have a tech level 3 (50% reduction). Fleet continues to spend my 100K, but I fit in ships, deuterium occupies only 52K and I can send space ships to 100% speed.
Practical Example 3: I have a lot of ships and I've researched this at 7, so that to be more material recyclers having to devote less space to the fuel. You can recycle more with less recyclers.
Practical Example 4: to take up less fuel, parking can be made longer without adding cargo ships.
Notes in debate:
It would have to think if the compaction is also applicable to deuterium transported / stored from consumption, which does not know is if that the above would consider excessive. I hope edifying contributions in this regard, but I fear that given the divergent views this is for the dev's (if it).
So, there are two alternatives to consider:
A) Only reduce the amount of deuterium (used by engines) ...
In this case the deuterium in the tanks we trade is the same (liquid) external tanks of a cargo ship are not safe for metallic hydrogen (assuming it is a very unstable substance) ... Core is only safe ship, which saves fuel fusion reactors that feed the engines.
B) Reduce the volume of transported all the deuterium, which is exemplified the metallic phase is stable and long-term storage is not too risky. In this case the technology becomes more useful. In turn, consider this option should also involve the stores deuterium is retained in a substantially more efficient (with the same factor) ...
Note: Given what supposedly going to do with the stores with the new version, increased storage capacity of compression of the deuterium would be no outrage. A high level of technology is a factor 4 or so ... maybe save a couple of fields in storage of deuterium, but the material storage savings we spend on research as it were in some way.
The carrying capacity of ships is the same, what will happen is that efficiency in the transport of deuterium will be higher.
On the other hand,
Only if you accept this technology and how hypothetical future improvement of the same, it could lead to debate, and reasonable physical basis, which allows metallic hydrogen combustion devices to achieve compact fusion reactors more efficient and smaller insurance to treat a plasma magneto hydrodynamic (effects on fusion technology, better performance. but also an appreciable effect on the efficiency of discrete engines, such as a reduction of consumption of 1% per level, the consumption of all ships).
Note: This above is an EXTRA to the basic idea, which will increase its long-term value and high levels.
The proposed benefit level seems small, but players with very large fleets can be interesting. 1% can mean a savings of tens of thousands of units per day deuterium.
Thinking a little more closely and specifying this further this hypothesis, we would have to apply a formula of its kind to use for a profit which says:
Consumption = Base * 0.99 ^ (Level of compaction)
This, consumption becomes a new variable to improve as we now are the shield, the shield and attack power. By the way the technology becomes more and more interesting.
