    • Protection of weaker user

      Dear Community,

      Today, we would like to inform you about our new noob protection at OGame, which will be a permanent protection for weaker user. This protection will only be established at new universes, because it will influence the balancing of the game.

      The current noob protection will be completely discarded and replaced by a permanent protection. This means shortly:

      •no limits according to points or time
      •permanent protection proportional 1:10 of your overall points
      •in addition you can attack the next 100 ranks within our new military Highscore at any time
      •beyond this range, stronger players could not attack weaker players
      •weaker user can lose their protection if they attack a too strong users (will be mentioned in galaxy view)
      •after 7 days of inactivity the protection gets lost (until your next login)

      Example:
      With 40 billion points you´re on rank one at the overall and military ranking. Within our new system you are able to attack all users with at least 4 billion points, all players till rank 100 in our military ranking and all inactive user. You can also attack all users who lost their protection due to their own fault.

      The protection should offer weaker user the possibility to grow up and get long-lasting enjoyment of playing OGame. At the same time we want to motivate stronger players to interact with other comparable players and not just attack all “noobs” without any risks.


      Military – Ranking:

      Part of our new protection is our new military ranking which observes the used resources for combat ships and on a percentage basis the costs of civil ships, defense (also anti-ballistic missiles & interplanetary missiles) and also sensor phalanx and jump gates. Thereby we will have the following sections:

      •used resource points
      •destroyed resource points
      •lost resource points

      The new structure of our ranking will enable to compare the real strength of all players with each other. By the inclusion of all tactical units you can´t hide yourself behind e.g. just defense units and keep your real strength in secret.


      Protection of ships & resources

      Also a new part of our protection system is the possibility to hide your resources and protect your ships against much too strong players within a special range. Therefor we will add 3 new building, resource hideouts, and make it possible for inferior fleets to escape from a battle.

      Hideouts:

      For every type of resources, metal, crystal and deuterium, we will offer a subterranean hideout. All of them will be able to protect a few resources from being looted. The whole process will be done on its own. With a corresponding level of your hideout a special amount of your resources will be always protected.

      To avoid confusions in our espionage report the hideouts and protected resources won´t be shown there. This means that you still can loot all resources which are shown in the report. Furthermore those buildings probably won´t need a building lot since they are subterranean and should not strain the current planets any more.

      Escape of fleets:

      If you are under attack by an overpowering opponent your fleet will be able to escape. That means:

      •If the relative strength reaches the limit of 5:1 the defendable fleet will be able to escape
      •ACS attacks and holding fleets will be considered summarized
      •Defense won´t be involved into the calculation, civil ships just on a percentage basis (probes not at all)
      •The escape takes place on its own but consumed Deuterium (per ship the consumption of 30 minutes holding time)
      oFleets only can escape altogether. If there is not enough Deuterium available no ship will be able to escape.
      oDeathstars, Probes, Solar Satellites and holding fleets in general are not able to escape.
      •The automatic escape can be deactivated in the fleet menu, e.g. for moon shots.
      •Resources won´t be saved.
      •With the help of the Admiral you will be able to change the ratio of 5:1. The other ratios are given by us, it won´t be possible to choose it completely free.

      These changes should protect weaker players from a total loss and keep them in the game further on. With the protection of a few resources you also should be able to grow up again despite an attack against you.


      Honour points:

      As a reward for combats within special predefined parameters you will be able to receive or lose honour points. You could receive them for battles against similar powerful players or even stronger ones. You will lose them if you attack much weaker players. Honour points will be calculated with destroyed military ships (not civil ships) & defense plus destroyed moons.

      The honour points refer to the military ranking resp. the military points of both players. With the receipt or loss of honour points you can earn special ingame titles (like emperor or prince of bandits) as well as advantages and disadvantages within the game.

      Advantages could be a lower resource protection of your target (e.g. you could capture 75% instead of 50%). A disadvantage could be the loss of your attack protection against other stronger players.


      More details about the amounts and proportions will follow later on. You also will be able to check our new system on our upcoming test server. Thereby we will also collect your feedback and maybe change the balancing of our new system again.

    • Changes around the noob protection

      Hello,

      After some discussions the GameForge already decided some changes for our upcoming test server.


      - new protection with given settings just for new server (just to mention it again)
      - with changed settings we can start hardcore and "noob" server
      - protection will be limited to predefined total score (e.g. deactivated if you reach 500k points)
      - fleet escape deactivated for honourable combats (e.g. fleet never can escape if defender has more points)
      - with upcoming features (later!) it could be possible to cover / distort the military points
      - balancing of hideouts will be checked directly on the test server (if prize / amount of secured res are known we think it won´t be a problem anymore)
      - terraformer will be optimized (e.g. every 2 level one more field -> Aggregated - 5 more fields at level 10)
      - inactive players will be deleted from honour points ranking
      - alliance system (to solve problems with wars) are already on our list but will take some more time

      Also they will test some more stuff directly on the test server, e.g. to use defense also for fleet escape calculation; to change the general secured res for (non-) honourable combats and higher costs for fleet escape. Maybe some other settings as well.
