      Today the Origin server will be updated to 5.8.5-beta1

    • We will update Origin universe to version 5.8.5 on Monday 9th.
      If everything goes fine, version will be released in all countries within the next week (exact date will follow next week).

      What are the Circular universes?

      This is a new feature that will allow the "customization" of a new setting in the universes.
      This new setting will make the universes "circular" instead of let's say... "linear".


      So we will be able to have:
      • Linear universes: like they are now.
      • Circular universes: the new feature.

      In a circular universe the distance between galaxy 9 and galaxy 1 would be the same as between g1 and g2, only 1 galaxy of distance.
      The distance between g2 and g8 would be only 3 galaxies of distance (you would fly from g8 to 9, then 1 and then 2).

      Same applies for solar systems, the distance between 1 and 499 would be the same as between 1 and 2, only 1 solar system of distance.
      The distance between 100 and 400 would be only 199 solar systems of distance (you would fly from 400 to ... 498, 499, 1, 2 ... up to 100).


      This new "circular" feature can be enabled only for the galaxies, only for the solar systems or both at the same time (they can be "separate").


      Hints:
      • The maximum distance in a circular 9 galaxies universe would always be 4 galaxies.
      • The maximum distance in a circular 499 solar systems universe would always be 249.
      • The system takes always the "shortest way".
      • The distance between two consecutive galaxies or solar systems REMAINS the same.


      Don't worry because the universes won't change now. The option to customize the setting will be only implemented but not enabled, nothing will change with version 5.8.5. Although with this version we will be able to modify that setting like we do now with speed or debris fields (for example).

      At the moment we will only consider to enable this setting in some of the incoming universes (not in all necessarily), but there is no plan for the already existing universes.

      Circular Galaxy and circular Solarsystem is enabled on the Origin Testserver. Have fun with testing and feel free to report bugs :)

      Added stuff:

      - New Metatags for the new Feature in 5.8.5
      - New Setting also added in universe.xml (OGame API)


      With this changes we give Tool developers the chance to grap the settings, if the donut/circle galaxy or system is active or no.
