    • Well I started playing OGame in late April 2014, in october I deleted my homeplanet^^

Also if you got 8 Planets at 90°you produce around 34.04M deut per week with deut 30 in a 4-times speed universe. If your planets are at 0° you produce 45.386M deut per week with the same mines. For me that is a very high difference^^

    • after half a year of playing your not a beginner anymore
why did you delete it so late? D:

actually with my example of 10 planets on position 1 the numbers would be even more extreme, but that still doesnt make or break the account.
so instead of a 25 million account that guy only has a 20 million account after playing 1 1/2 year in an high speeduniverse(4/5x). the aim of my suggestion is to make playing for beginners and casuals more comfortable.

the difficutly of playing isnt affected by deu production. this is an entirly different point, plus its just not true. the fictional deu loss would be insignificant even in extrem cases where a player has 10 planets on position 1(which is highly unlikely)

The example of NoMoreAngel shows that's just not true (edit: I saw you actually showed an example yourself in the last post). It is managable to have an average temperature of about 20. On Position 1 the average is 240 and with deut 30 and 8 planets (which both is fairly low / few) you'll lose about 1 billion of deut every year (so like 1,5-2kk points). I'd call that significant, especially since it will probably blow up to 5-10kk points with higher mines / more planets (at least in 4x).
I know you were talking about beginners but why would you encourage them to make a decision (take big, extremely hot planet on pos 1 to have a more convenient energy management) that is simply wrong in the long run. And you usually want to play an account for multiple years. It doesn't destroy an account but makes it so (almost painfully ;P) inefficient and imo efficiency is a crucial part of a miner account.

And, yes of course we all lost deut unless all of our planets are at -130°C. But it's about getting the maximal realistic amount instead of just settle for a 240°C planet just because it's big. (I did use multiple relocations but I also know that's not the rule). You called the lower deut production on pos 1-3 a "big disadvantage" and big pos 13-15 "op" yourself, and now you want to encourage beginners to settle for the strategically much worse decision to use big and very hot planets on pos 1-3. I don't really see why ^^

One could say there's not really a disadvantage about making pos 1-3 very huge but as mentioned, the GF would probably have to change the relocation rules.

That's a standpoint from the current situation, I agree that it's kinda sad some positions are virtually useless.
    • you cant just ignore half my post

the maximal "relastic" amount of deu production you would get on position 12. you would need an average of 40 attempts to get the coldest possible of -10°C. lets settle for 10 tries and you average -5°C

thats still way off your 20°C and even further away from what most players have as their average. so probally 99% of players "lose" a huge amount of deu because most of them are too lazy to get decent colonies and it still doesn't affect their accounts in terms of fun or playability.
again we are talking about a way to make the game easier for casual gamers. the fictional lose of deu which could in extrem cases accumulate up to million of points is laughable if we put things into perspective.

i never said i want to encourage beginners to settle for warm planets, please dont put words in my mouth(i know you probally didnt mean to =) )
ofc players should if anything get encouraged to go for the cold planets(ideally ingame). when a beginner decides to take a look at external sources like owiki or just at the numbers ingame he then learns about it and can make a better decision about his planets in the future.
but there is only a low percentage of players(and it always has been this way, even when the servers were full) that will use the forums, savekb, irc etc. regulary to inform themselves.
its the same with sports for example. there a million of viewers but only a fraction of them is using forums to discuss matches and players.

casuals just wanna play the game and be done with it. based on that its in my opinion favourable to have them lose production to make the game more enjoyable for them.
do you believe that there wil be a anyone who looks at his account after 1 year of playing and be like "welp i couldve had 25mio points and now i only have 20 mio, lets stop playing".

    • You're right, everyone is losing deut and most probably aren't really bothered by it (I kinda am :D)
But that would probably increase a lot if pos 1-3 suddenly are very big. You substitute managable problems (planet sizes) for permanent loss of deut.
Since we both agree, that it's better to go for cold planets, I probably didn't have to make this point but I guess many casuals/beginners would make the mistake to settle for pos 1-3 and your protégés probably will need even more persuading by you to go for cold planets.
Then again I see your points and the current system is improvable.

PS: Thanks for your colonizing attempts to see some new planet sizes.
      PPS: What did I ignore?
    • the numbers could be tweaked
there is no reason at the moment why these planets should produce so litte deu
and even if there was a reason(like my proposal with positios 1-3 having the most fields and the buff of the solar plant) the production could be closer to the other planets.

yes many players would be tempted to go for the biggest planets and they would lose out on deu production but yet again thats already the case :D
but they also get benefits which fits theire playstyle more.
3/4 of new servers have at least 2xproduction. normally you at least need to login once a day to not end up as farm and even then you probally end up beeing farmed at the beginning a couple of times.
ofc having warm planets and a buffed solar planet wont prevent the farming but at least they get less frustrated by losing sats or not at all because they dont need them.
