Some players from ES comm have suggested this: implementing a premium feature that allows the user to increment the available planet fields de develop more buildings there, using Dark Matter.

Don´t like it. On our .nl Board we´ve had a lot of trolling ideas considering DM functions. This suggestion didn´t pass the revue, but I think it has the same purpose. I´m not saying that this isn´t a serious suggestion, I´m not able to judge that.
I wrote a reply on my Board, I´ll translate it:

´Obtaining advantages by using DM can be implemented in many ways, that´s for sure.
The question is: Is that what we want? - Personally I don´t, and I think a lot of players agree with me.
I think there´s a good possibility for GF to actually implement this sort of ideas, but while a lot of players don´t want it, I think we should not want to suggest it.´

I guess my opinion on this suggestion is clear.

Well... maybe this ins't so "popular"... but it has been implemented (event item).
