      Hi fellow space comrades,

      there were some ideas brewing for quite some time and i finally put them onpaper. Though, the suggestions below are not something i consider definite norperfect but their purpose is rather to inspire others players and devs to comewith new ideas and possibly start interesting discussions.

      Orbital Defender System

      After some time inhabitants of the empire realized the defense of the planet does not need to be only on the ground but it could start from the orbit of the planet. So they developed the Orbital Defender System. A small immobile unit stationed in the upper atmosphere of the planet able to fend off against any raiders who overestimate the planets defenses. To produce this unit a small amount of deuterium is also needed since it must be transported by another spaceship into the orbit.

      Gigantic Gauss Cannon

      With the rise of bigger and deadlier capital ships, the defense systems of a planet also had to evolve. G.G.C. was made having primarly in mind to increase the destructive power of a Gauss Cannon. Being big and bulky, it is an easy prey for the sophisticated targeting systems of a Bomber.

      Heavy Plasma Cannon

      It was time to take a decisive action against the Deathstars that wrecked havoc in the universe. As nothing could oppose the immeasurable destructive power of the Deathstar there was no point in fortyfing the structures or increasing the shield power of a defense. The only option was to drastically increase the firepower of the already strongest existing defenses. If the planet is going down, it is bringing the Deathstar with it.

      Shield ship designed to soak damage even from the strongest of weapons (beside Deathstar). Its advanced weapon systems may or may not destroy a rocket launcher.

      Specialized ship designed to combat mid tier ships (battleship, battlecruiser and cruiser). Large shield generators and engines don't leave much space for bigger cargo space.

      Corvette (mini bomber)


      A fast and small ship designed escape the fight in space and penetrate the planets defenses. Due to its very small hull there isn't much space for anything beside a strong engine and specialized weapons.

      Strong against Light Fighters and Heavy Fighters. Large cargo capacity since it is a big capital ship. Endurable and can soak quite some damage. Not good against stronger ships (beside soaking the damage).

      Laser Technology


      To avoid creating a whole new thread just for this few sentences i will write here an idea for Laser Technology. If you are a long term OGame player you notice that every tech serves some purpose in the long run and researching those technologies gives boosts no matter how small they may be (plus they unlock new ships, technologies etc.). Laser technology lacks that so i propose a simple change which will change the game a bit and allow for some new interesting calculations to be made.


      Every level of Laser Tech gives 1% to weapon strength ONLY to Small Laser and Heavy Laser.


      Now, I actually didn't try to avoid ships and make the technology provide benefits only to defenses, but i have no idea on which ships to apply it to and how would it affect the game.
